Social counseling
How it works
Depending on your personal concerns, social counseling ranges from
- information
- relief
- empowerment and
- networking with other services.
In a conversation in a calm atmosphere (in person, by phone or video), you tell your counselor about your issue
- without obligation, confidentially, free of charge, transparently and anonymously if you wish.
In social counseling, we follow a systemic solution-oriented approach, but relief through listening also plays an equally important role:
By sharing the problem, emotional relief is possible, verbalization leads to cognitive structuring. A clearer view, new perspectives and approaches become possible.
The student's individual stressful situation is given space and time. The topics of discussion can be anything that concerns you - in your private life or at university.
You can reach the social counselling service as follows:
Rostock/Wismar
open consultation hours (without appointment) by telephone only:

Wismar:
Open consultation hours (without appointment on the Wismar campus, House 1, R 149):
Wednesday fortnightly (even calendar weeks), 11:00–13:00
Individual appointments for both locations via: sozialberatung@stw-rw.de
Concerns that need to be discussed confidentially and in peace and quiet require an appointment for a consultation time of between 30 and 55 minutes. Consultation possible by appointment in person, by telephone and online (video).
