Social counseling
How it works
Depending on your personal concerns, social counseling ranges from
- information
- relief
- empowerment and
- networking with other services.
In a conversation in a calm atmosphere (in person, by phone or video), you tell your counselor about your issue
- without obligation, confidentially, free of charge, transparently and anonymously if you wish.
In social counseling, we follow a systemic solution-oriented approach, but relief through listening also plays an equally important role:
By sharing the problem, emotional relief is possible, verbalization leads to cognitive structuring. A clearer view, new perspectives and approaches become possible.
The student's individual stressful situation is given space and time. The topics of discussion can be anything that concerns you - in your private life or at university.
Possible topics
- How can I best organize myself if I have a double or multiple burden due to studying with a child, studying with a health impairment or as a foreign student?
- What does it actually mean to provide proof of performance for the BAföG office?
- What is the effect of a part-time job?
- When does a loan seem appropriate?
- What can I do if my parents transfer too little money to me?
- What should I think about if I am considering a change of subject?
- How do I finance a leave of absence due to illness, pregnancy or parental leave?
- Who gets a Mensa-Freitischkarte or a Härtefondsdarlehen?
- How do I apply for a pass for the Kinderteller in the Rostock and Wismar canteens?
- How can I actually get a scholarship?
- How do I organize myself when there are constant conflicts between me and the requirements of others?
- How does “good” - because solution-oriented - communication work? (e.g. in a shared flat, between partners or in the family)
