Paying with the Mensa-Card
A contactless, rechargeable chip card enables quick and convenient payment at the cash registers. The debit process takes 1-2 seconds. This significantly reduces waiting times.
The MENSA-CARD is valid in all canteens and cafeterias of the Studierendenwerk Rostock-Wismar. These include:
Canteen Süd/Rostock
Canteen St.-Georg-Str./Rostock
Canteen Multiple Choice/Rostock
Canteen Kantilene/Rostock
Canteen Ulme/Rostock
Canteen Wismar/Wismar
A rental fee of € 10.00 is charged for the card. The Mensa-Card remains the property of the Studierendenwerk Rostock-Wismar. The rental fee will be refunded when the undamaged card is returned. The card is offered with a credit balance of € 10.00 for students and staff of the university/university of applied sciences. A credit balance of €10 is already available on the Mensa-Card for guests.
The card can be purchased at the cash registers in the cafeterias.
All cards have a validity code. No personal data is stored on the card.
The card can be loaded at the cash registers of the catering facilities. It can be topped up cashlessly with € 5, € 10, € 20 or € 50.
What is the Mensa Card?

Where can you get the Mensa Card?
- the card can be obtained at the cash registers in the canteens.
New Mensa-Cards from 3 January 2022: For all user groups (students/staff/guests) Card value € 20, of which € 10 is the rental fee and € 10 is the top-up amount.
The old Mensa-Cards remain valid.
- upon return, the remaining credit and, if the card is undamaged, the rental fee will be refunded.
- the Mensa-Card remains the property of the Studierendenwerk Rostock-Wismar.
What requirements must be met?
- STUDENTS – upon presentation of a valid student ID card
- UNIVERSITY/COLLEGE EMPLOYEES – university/college employee card/employee ID/service ID
- GUESTS – no special requirements
How is the Mensa Card topped up?
- at the cash registers in all cafeterias.
- cashless for € 5, € 10, € 20 or € 50.
- no credit limit.
How can I check my credit balance?
- at the cash registers in the canteens
- in the ‘Mensa Rostock-Wismar’ app
What happens if I lose my card?
- please enquire at the canteens.
- you should make a note of your card number beforehand. This will enable us to search for and block your Mensa Card!
