FAQ
Are there rooms for students with children?
-
There are 10 mother/father/child units available for students with a child. Unfortunately, we cannot provide family units. For example, we cannot accommodate a family if a person is not enrolled for studies. In addition, the acceptance of parents with children in our residence is limited in time as we cannot offer a suitable living environment for children.
Are there rooms for students with disabilities in the residential complexes?
-
Yes. At the Ulmenstraße and Max-Planck-Straße sites in Rostock and at the Bürgermeister-Haupt-Straße site in Wismar there are a total of 16 disability-adapted rooms, some of which are wheelchair accessible.
Can I apply even though I have not yet received study certificate from my university?
-
Yes. You can apply even without proof of enrolment. However, proof of enrolment must be produced at the latest when signing the tenancy agreement. You will receive a reply to your application at least four weeks before the beginning of the semester – either in the form of an offer or a rejection.
Can I bring pets?
-
Before acquiring an animal or moving in with a pet, the landlord must always be informed, as tenants may only keep pets with their consent. Exceptions are small animals such as ornamental fish, ornamental birds, hamsters, turtles and other non-toxic reptiles. Consent must be refused or can be revoked if the animals are a nuisance to other residents or neighbours or if there is a risk that the statics of the building, components of the hall of residence or the rented property itself will be impaired.
Can I have a look at a/my room/apartment in the student accommodation before moving in?
-
As the places are usually rented until the day before the next tenant moves in, we are unfortunately unable to organize visits. You can have a look at the accommodation on your own initiative; the person renting the room before you might have nothing against a brief visit. In this context, we would like to point out the ability to cancel (in connection with the Distance Selling Act) within 14 days. Details can be found in the accommodation offer which will generally only be sent to you by e-mail.
Can I sublet my room/apartment in the student accommodation?
-
No, the following applies: Tenants are prohibited from subletting or transferring the use of the rented rooms, even partially, to third parties without the landlord's permission. The same applies to the admission of third parties to the occupied rooms. Violations entitle the landlord to terminate the lease without notice after prior warning.
Do I have to pay a deposit?
-
Yes. The deposit is between €300 and €400 depending on the type of room. The deposit is paid or collected with the first rent payment. Further details can be found in the General Tenancy Terms and Conditions.
