Englischsprachig: Self-Care and Study-Management during the COVID-19 pandemic

Vom 26. November 2020 bis 07. Januar 2021

The current restrictions due to the COVID-19 situation effect our everyday life, and in particular life on campus. The loss of regular activities leaves many empty spaces in the daily routine. Moreover, the requirements on self-management, autonomous learning and self-motivation rose these days. These changes can create feelings of insecurity and uncertainty, negative feelings and inner turmoil. International students may have to deal with feelings of homesickness, too. The online workshop series „Self-Care and Study-Management during the COVID-19 pandemic“ helps to study successfully at home and to maintain a good spirit. Our aim is to develop healthy strategies to cope with negative emotions and interrupt burdensome thoughts and brooding. Practical support helps to set a daily structure that ensures to maintain a productive and healthy focus and a feeling of control. You share your experiences with other participants, support each other and activate individual resources.

Contents and themes:

1. The connection of emotions, thoughts, behaviour, bodily reactions

2. The impact of regular activities and routines on psychological wellbeing

3. Strategies to cope with social distancing

4. Exchange of experiences with other participants

The workshop series takes place in a closed group with one weekly online meeting via video chat over a period of five weeks. Participants can meet other students online and therefore stay connected to other international students. The workshop series offers an opportunity to share experiences about home studying and collect new ideas how to cope with the situation.

Target group: international students of the universities of Rostock and Wismar with sufficient English skills, who have difficulties with the home-study situation and suffer under social isolation and homesickness.
